The Walk&Learn project is a platform that brings to life the rich cultural heritage of Jewish communities in Europe in a modern, innovative, and interactive way.
By combining a healthy form of urban mobility, namely walking, with new technologies and education, this platform preserves key figures and events that have shaped our European society from being forgotten.
The project started in Belgrade in collaboration with the Jewish Community of Belgrade and the Jewish Historical Museum.

The Sukat Shalom Synagogue, built in 1926 on the foundations of an older house of worship, represents a historical symbol of Belgrade’s Ashkenazi community and is today the only active synagogue in Belgrade that brings together both religious congregations.
Built in 1907 according to the design of Viktor Azriel, the Buli family department store represents the first modern department store in Belgrade and a masterpiece of Art Nouveau, whose innovative glass-and-iron façade brought a European spirit to the streets of the city.
From a pre-war center of education, culture, and humanitarian work to today’s seat of the Jewish Community of Belgrade and a historical museum, this building from 1929 stands as a lasting pillar of the Jewish community.
Built in 1923 in the pseudo-Moorish style, this building served as the headquarters of the humanitarian society Oneg Shabbat and Serbia’s first women’s association, the Jewish Women’s Society, which for decades provided aid, education, and protection to the most vulnerable.
Erased from the map of Belgrade in 1952, the Old Synagogue (El Kal Viježu) lives on today only in the “shadow of its past,” as a lasting symbol of the former life of Dorćol’s Jewish community.
